Mongolian Visa on Arrival
Mongolian visas are available upon arrival for travelers whose country does not have a Mongolian diplomatic mission (Embassy or Consulate). Visa on arrival can be obtained at the international airport in Ulaanbaatar.
Required Documents for Visa on Arrival:
Official invitation letter issued by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia, arranged by your tour operator
(The invitation must be approved at least 14 days before arrival)
- Invitation letter processing fee (paid to the tour operator)
- Return air or train tickets
- Tour itinerary
- Visa fee (paid upon arrival)
- Two passport-sized photos
- Valid passport
(Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry to Mongolia)
Documents Required for Mongolian Tourist / Travel Visa
- Completed visa application form
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
- 3.5 x 4.5 cm passport photo (mandatory size)
- Copy of hotel booking or accommodation details in Mongolia
- Copy of flight or train tickets
- Proof of sufficient funds (e.g. recent bank statement, if required)
- Visa fee (paid upon submission, non-refundable)
Important Notice:
Visa officers may request additional documents to verify the purpose of your visit.
A regular tourist visa allows a stay of up to 30 days, with a possible 30-day extension.
Extensions must be applied for at the Immigration Agency at least 4 days before visa expiration.
Documents Required for Other Visa Types
(Business, Employment, Student, etc.)
- Completed visa application form
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
- 3.5 x 4.5 cm passport photo
- Approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia
(for business or NGO-related travel)
- Approval from the Immigration Agency of Mongolia
(for employment, student, and other visa types)
- Visa fee (non-refundable)
📌 Visitors traveling for non-tourism purposes are strongly advised to contact the appropriate Mongolian diplomatic mission in advance.
Official / Diplomatic Visa
- Completed application form
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
- 3.5 x 4.5 cm passport photo
- Official request from the sending authority or Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Visa fee may be waived depending on the purpose of visit
